Forest Carbon Verification Manager Your tasks
Position Summary: The Forest Project Verification Manager primarily works with forest carbon project verification team on coordinating verification and validation work and allocation of staff resources, developing training materials and templates, providing quality control and assurance on forest carbon project team work, lead validation and verification activities for new project types, and assisting the Director, Forest Carbon Verification with business planning and growth. This position manages a team of staff that are dedicated to forest carbon project validation and verification. Additionally, this position may provide support to our company's timberland management program including design, implementation, and analysis of timber inventories and appraisals, spatial data analysis and cartography (GIS), and some field work. Responsibilities: - Project Oversight & Technical Review (30-50%) Lead site visits and inventory audits Review carbon quantification and modeling Evaluate GIS and compliance with protocols Conduct senior-level project reviews - Team & Resource Management (10-20%) Allocate staff resources and monitor workloads Support business planning and client proposals - Training & Quality Assurance (20-35%) Mentor staff and develop training materials Ensure quality of project deliverables - Personnel Management (10-15%) Set performance expectations and conduct evaluations Handle disciplinary actions and recommend promotions - Representation (5%) Represent the company at industry events The anticipated annual base pay range for this full-time position is $110,000-$140,000. Actual base pay will be determined based on various factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target, subject to eligibility and other requirements. Your qualifications
Education and Experience: B.S./B.A. in Forestry or closely related field 5 years experience in Forest Carbon project development, validation/verification, Registry or regulatory oversight or related 5 years experience working in forestry or closely related field Valid driver's license and clear driving record Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: High level of competency with forest inventory measurements, instruments, and sampling protocols High proficiency in Microsoft Excel High proficiency in the suite of ESRI GIS software Interest in remote/rural travel Proficiency in database management and database tools including Access, R, etc Ability to drive vehicles in a safe manner and in accordance with company policy Ability to work safely, effectively, and respectfully with others and alone in steep, rugged terrain under adverse weather conditions Ability to navigate terrain with GPS or map and compass Excellent written and oral communication skills State-issued Professional Forester credential or SAF Certified Forester or the ability to obtain a credential within 1 year Ability to attain forestry verifier credentials with Climate Action Reserve, Climate Forward, and ACR within 1 year of hire Ability to attain ARB Accredited Offset Verifier and US Forest Projects Specialist within 1 year of hire Ability to share knowledge and participate in coaching and mentoring others.
