Work environment

This position is based in our Fargo, ND office and requires full-time, on-site attendance. The scheduled working hours are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Central Time.

Pay information



  • Pay Level: 014
  • FLSA Category: Nonexempt - Hourly
  • Individual pay will be based on skills, experience, qualifications, location, internal equity, and other relevant factors.

A day in the life

The Cleaning Technician is responsible for organizing and leading the building cleaning staff in normal cleaning operations in office spaces and other employee spaces. This role will train new team members and assist in providing direction to staff on proper techniques and safe work practices

Your responsibilities will include



  • Coordinates cleaning staff including scheduling, assigning tasks, and posting important information regarding space and employee areas.
  • Vacuums, dusts, and cleans work and employee areas including offices, restrooms, cafeteria, lobby, windows, computer center, meeting rooms, and other spaces; collects trash and recyclables throughout the building.
  • Demonstrates proper and safe work practices and maintains expected work quality.
  • Conducts inspection tours around the building to ensure cleaning standards are met.
  • Keeps inventory of supplies and reorders as necessary.
  • Oversees use of specialized cleaning machines, such as carpet cleaners.
  • Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Instructs cleaning crew in proper use of various cleaning products, including chemicals, in accordance with safety guidelines and appropriate surfaces; familiar with material safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals.
  • Assists in hiring and training personnel in work activities and use of heavier equipment (e.g., carpet cleaners).
  • Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.



What you need to succeed



  • A High School Diploma/GED
  • 3 years of broad experience in building cleaning or closely related work, including experience use of specialized cleaning equipment and chemicals
  • Informally trains and provides guidance in completing work assignments or projects
  • Responds positively to a changing environment while maintaining work efficiency
  • Pays close attention to the details of all work and strives for a high level of accuracy
  • Ensures key points are communicated as appropriate
  • Manages time effectively
  • Consistently maintains a high level of productivity



Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
