General Summary: Working in a team environment, the Business System Analyst II will actively participate in the needs assessment and system requirement process of all business applications development, detailing requirements for systems. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing application products to determine where the software fits campus business needs and where gaps exist that may need to be addressed; and will provide solutions to potential changes in business practice to enhance the University's strategic goals, as well as to accommodate the software. The incumbent will also be responsible for producing designs and detailed requirements for software use, both "as delivered" and for any appropriate software modification necessary to overcome gaps; for assisting in the development, testing and implementation of application products; and for providing potential policy considerations and long-range strategic goals to further organizational business needs. The Business Systems Analyst II will regularly communicate any and all issues, design approaches, potential business practice changes and modifications, etc. to all parties that may be impacted so as to keep all project participants well informed, especially for integration purposes. The position will work closely with other functional and technical professionals on projects, as well as with all appropriate campus academic and administrative staff and university system groups, to ensure the development of systems that meet the overall needs of the University in an ever-changing technological environment. This position may require work at a central location. Examples of Duties:
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three-five (3-5) years of systems development experience, preferably within an institution of higher education, required. An additional four years of work experience in systems development, preferably within an institution of higher education, can be substituted for the required Bachelor's Degree. Demonstrated experience working with administrative systems and planning and project management skills required. Experience in higher education administrative systems preferred. Working knowledge of current business practices and administrative system requirements. Ability to understand and articulate the strategic business needs of the University, including those identified through business process redesign. Ability to work in both a team environment and independently; Ability to take initiative, and work without regular supervision. Ability to translate University business needs in support of system design and development; Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong project management and planning skills. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong commitment to customer service.
