Job Summary

The Maintenance Operations Manager will be responsible for the daily groundskeeping and custodial maintenance at all Mesa Community College (MCC) campus sites. This includes MCC's custodians and groundskeepers, as well as custodial and landscape contractors. This Position will also oversee aerial lift, forklift, heavy equipment operations to include annual inspections, maintenance, and repairs by third-party vendors, as well as oversee life safety systems, annual fire system inspections, and elevator inspections at all MCC locations. The Maintenance Operations Manager will manage our recycling program and the semi-annual hazmat removals, and will supervise the campus events setups and take downs.

Essential Functions

20% - Manage all groundskeeping needs for all MCC campus sites, including in-house technicians and outsourced contract services.

15% Oversee life safety systems, annual fire system inspections, elevator inspections at all MCC locations.

20% Oversee all aerial lift, forklift, and heavy equipment operations to include annual inspections, maintenance, and repairs by third-party vendors.

10% - Manage all event setups and take downs

20% - Manage the hazmat removals

15% - Manage the MCC recycle program

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED plus nine years of experience related to the management of facilities and grounds maintenance operations which includes two years of supervisory experience.

There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

OR

An equivalent combination of the education and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

A. Ten (10) years maintenance and operations experience at an educational institution

B. Five (5) years managing/supervising third-party vendors/contractors

C. Two (2) years managing/supervising life safety systems.

D. Two (2) years experience managing both groundskeepers and grounds contracted crew(s)

E. Five (5) years of event set up experience.

F. One (1) year of hazardous waste disposal experience.

G. OSHA 30 General Safety and Health Certified.

Special Working Conditions
  • This position will require travel to all MCC campus sites, and you must have a valid driver's license.
  • May be required to lift or carry up to 25lbs.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • Position requires rotational,24 Hr. Emergency on-call status.
