A day in the life...

As a Senior Manager FSQA Supply Chain, by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, you will be responsible for recommending, developing, implementing, and managing safety, quality, and food safety on all ingredients, primary packaging suppliers, retail store GMP audits and contract manufacturers. You will uphold company policies, ensure compliance to formulas, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you are responsible for building effective relationships with its internal cross-functional partners as well as with Russell Stover's contract manufacturers and suppliers, to find win-win solutions. This position requires management of direct reports.

What you will be doing...



  • Managing the RSC internal audit system for contract manufacturers, warehouses, suppliers, and RSC locations using risk assessment analysis to determine frequency. Issue reports, facilitate corrective actions and verify corrections.
  • Performing audits at suppliers, co-mans/co-packs and retail stores when required. Lead all probationary audits of high risk suppliers and co-mans/co-packs.
  • Managing the workstream for the retail store audits performed by a 3rd party vendor and partner with the Retail team on corrective actions.
  • Managing the key KPIs in supply chain including the supplier & co-man scorecards, probation and disqualification reports, and retail store audit scorecards.
  • Acting FSQA manager over the E-commerce facility.
  • Directing reports for this position can include supply chain auditors, QA staff for E-Commerce and any additional workstreams that align with Supply Chain functions.
  • Acting as contact for the plant teams on all non-conforming ingredients and/or packaging incidents. Responsible for issuing the SCAR for all non-conforming supplier incidents.
  • FSQA owner of holds at RSC DCs, responsible for weekly reviews with LSNA & RSC Warehousing team and disposition of the holds.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and ability to perform traceability in the supply chain.
  • Owning the TraceGains database for all suppliers and annual review of required documentation.
  • Creating and managing a productive relationship between Russell Stover and contract manufacturers/packers for all quality related activities.
  • Owning the Ingredient Hazard Assessment (IHA) and Food Fraud risk assessment.
  • Working directly with Russell Stover cross functional team members to ensure the qualification of new contract manufactures/packers, warehouses and suppliers to support successful startup of new products.
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and providing recommendations, through oral and written reports, on contract manufactured product quality.
  • Investigating consumer complaints stemming from contract manufacture through the RSC program including implement corrective actions and resolve complaints.
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining quality assurance programs to ensure food safety, quality, and integrity for RSC products at contract manufacturers.
  • Applying scientific methodology, use of root cause and statistical analysis tools to support recommendations for process improvements and drive continuous improvement.
  • Corresponding with contract manufacturers and suppliers as required.
  • Creating procedures to document best practice and ensure document control is maintained.
  • Ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines during plant visits to support product quality and uphold food safety standards.
  • Completing and following FSQA training and programs to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure consumer safety, and support the company's food safety and quality objectives.
  • Promptly reporting any observed or suspected issues that may impact food safety, quality, or compliance to the designated plant personnel, to support timely corrective actions and maintain compliance.
  • Actively contributing to the continuous improvement of the company's Food Safety Culture through engagement and actions aligned with your role.

Do you have what it takes?

(Basic Qualifications)



  • Bachelor's degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Microbiology, or other related science.
  • 5+ years of food safety, quality, and microbiological experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive and demonstrated managerial experience.
  • 3+ years of experience directly supervising a team.
  • Food Safety Auditing experience as a lead auditor.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% for domestic and limited international travel.
  • Practical knowledge of food quality standards, including federal (FDA) regulations.
  • Formal training and demonstrated experience in HACCP, FSMA, food safety, regulatory compliance, and GFSI.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, SPC, IPM, analytical testing and food microbiology.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to speak, read, and write English fluently, with or without an accommodation.
  • Ability to work from the Kansas City office a minimum of 3 days per week.


Do you stand above the rest?

(Preferred Qualifications)



  • Food Safety lead auditor certification. Preferrable FSSC 22000 Auditor certified.
  • Working knowledge of TraceGains.
  • QMS training (GFSI, ISO, SQF, etc.)
  • Experience managing multiple, remote locations and leading through influence.
  • Supervisory experience of remote teams highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, managerial and leadership skills required with the ability to teach and develop others in the organization (up, down, and across).
  • Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
