Job Summary

This position is focused exclusively on the placement of debt and/or equity for commercial real estate transactions. The Debt Associate will be involved in every stage of a transaction, including underwriting, market research, property tours, preparation of offering memorandums, marketing and term sheet negotiation, closing and client meetings and events. The role includes developing a client network and working in a high-energy, team-focused environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare debt and/or equity offering memorandums for commercial real estate transactions, including research, financial modeling and composition of executive summaries

  • Develop complex financial models for commercial real estate transactions and utilize market and JLL data/comps to correctly underwrite transactions

  • Manage the due diligence process and drive the marketing and closing processes for each transaction

  • Maintain constant communication with Producers, the market, and clients

  • Leverage marketing insights to assist clients in making decisions related to their business plan and capital structure

  • Demonstrate technical proficiency with databases to identify useful data for determining trends and preparing for pitches and meetings

  • Review real estate documents (leases, loan documents, appraisals, etc.) to identify potential issues or concerns

  • Develop and recommend financing alternatives for Producers

  • Build a strong client network within the industry through meetings, events and involvement in real estate trade organizations

  • Participate in weekly office meetings with Producers to discuss deal flow, status, market conditions and new client leads

  • Maintain strong understanding of how JLL's lines of business work together

Experience Required

  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis environment; mortgage or commercial real estate industry preferred

  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, with strong time management skills to prioritize deadlines

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, quantitative, writing and communication skills

  • Ability to interface effectively with clients, including top-level executives

  • Strong writing skills with ability to communicate analytical and marketing data effectively

  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative information

  • Independent worker with a team player attitude

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word

  • Argus experience a plus

  • Database experience a plus

Environment

  • Office setting with computers, copiers, and scanners

Estimated total compensation for this position:

78,000.00 - 95,600.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
