Staff Quality Assurance Engineer
What you will be doing: The Staff QA Engineer verifies software products and systems to ensure they are functioning as described in the business requirements and design documents associated with the product or system. This individual develops and executes exploratory, manual, load tests, and automated tests to ensure product quality. Work is performed within guidelines and standards followed by the enterprise regarding methodologies, version control, documentation, continuous integration, continuous deployment, automation, policy compliance and team collaboration.
The Staff QA Engineer implements, monitors, and improves methodologies and best practices across the service line. Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes is expected. The role provides guidance, support, and mentorship to teammates. The Staff QA Engineer provides oversight to multiple projects and ensures quality in each area. He/she must adapt to changes in scope, schedule and assignments quickly (learning on the fly) with little or no direction.
This role requires a working knowledge of SQL (writing single-table or multi-table joins, relational/dimensional database concepts, database query tools) and skills in the development of test automation (using UIPath, AbInitio DQE, Selenium, Cucumber or equivalent technologies). The person in this role must be self-motivated to learn about new and emerging testing technologies and capabilities. The Staff QA Engineer has full latitude for independent judgment when writing validation criteria and when writing and executing test scripts. Key Responsibilities Responsibility #1- 50% Test Scripts / Test Automation * Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases. Review and provide feedback on test plans and cases of others. * Provide expertise, direction, and set the course for a common framework approach for test automation * Design, develop and execute automation scripts using tools determined by the enterprise. Understand the various AUTs and the test automation requirements, and how that impacts the selection of appropriate test automation frameworks, tools, and solutions. * Drive rapid acceleration of automation initiatives through analysis, deployment and operation of best-of-breed automation tools suited to the product line and testing scenario. * Takes accountability to ensure the team is implementing requirements accurately. Experience eliciting requirements within the context of a project. * Ability to define a team testing strategy. * Ability to mentor team members on test driven development. Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools & processes. * Implementation of best practice techniques for test-driven development, value-based exploratory testing, risk identification, and production support * Assess test gaps with respect to customer use cases and add them to continuous development pipeline. Responsibility #2 - 25% Process and Tool Competencies * Expert at Agile/Scrum development process. Can look at big picture and make recommendations on changes and improvements. Run the process - SCRUM Master or equivalent, certification preferred; mentor other team members in Agile process; perform work prioritization and grooming, create & manage release plans; utilize process metrics for planning and product owner discussions. * Leads team in points estimation for QA work. Assists in story and roadmap review to keep things estimated. * Manage and assign issues; prioritize issues; put issue resolutions into releases. * Provide direction on areas & products to investigate; weigh pros & cons to recommend the go-forward path. * Manage deployment CRs/JIRAs/deployment emails; seek and implement deployment process improvements. * Actively seek technical debt to reduce; add debt reduction to team's workload. * Set standards for tools. * Interact with the standards makers/overseers, delegate compliance work to team members. Retain audit compliance while supporting end users during testing cycle. * Proficient in change management tools including ServiceNow. Responsibility #3 - 25% Team/People/Culture Competencies * Ability to lead a distributed team. * Experience mentoring QA engineers. * Able to resource-level work across multiple teams. * Knowledge of cross-functional and matrixed team structure and ability to deliver QA testing in this structure. * Assist with interviews and assessments of QA candidates to bring on board. * Accurate workload assessment and recommendations to leadership on type and timing of testing team growth and reduction. Required Qualifications Work Experience: Years of Applicable Experience - 4 or more years
Education: High School Diploma or GED (Required)
Preferred Qualifications Skills: * Experience of Software QA methodologies, tools, and processes * Knowledge of test automation tools such as UIPath, AbInitio DQE, Selenium, or equivalent * Experience managing a team involving automation tools in Agile environment Experience: * Prefer 7 years' experience Additional Job Requirements:

Travel Requirements: Travel 1-20% within the US
Physical Demands: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $90,000 - $150,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
