Job Summary
Under minimal guidance and supervision, administers the employee payroll for both union and non-union employee payroll. This includes maintenance of payroll/timekeeping systems; reporting; ensuring highest standards of accuracy, timeliness and compliance with applicable laws/regulations; and assisting employees with requests and inquiries. Ensures the confidentiality and security of all payroll records. Apply a broad general understanding of department activities, functions, policies and procedures. This role includes providing general guidance to other team members related to payroll policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process weekly and/or biweekly payroll runs in coordination with the HR Department, Supervisors and Paycom.
- Interpret and process new employee payroll records; make changes to existing employee payroll records.
- Record data on individual employee records related to pay rate, vacations, medical and personal leaves, jury duty, etc.
- Input pay program updates and deduction amounts according to multiple state laws, and by direction of the HR Department.
- Monitor state laws for changes and ensure timely setup of new state classifications as employees move.
- Prepare reports for tracking information for Union Dues payments, 401K reporting, Labor distribution, etc.
- Sort and distribute paychecks.
- Prepare check requests for payment of payroll related items.
- Process special checks outside the biweekly runs and make edits and adjustments as needed.
- Prepare reports for use in preparation of Journal Entries.
- Prepare monthly accruals related to payroll general ledger accounts
- Maintain payroll-related general ledger accounts and reconcile monthly to ensure accuracy.
- Report wage and tax information to Corporate, on individual payroll basis.
- Prepare routine reports and payments to government agencies and insurance companies.
- Review time sheets, deductions, wages, and discrepancies
- Understand wage and hour laws and how they apply to payroll, be able to field questions related to timecards
- Review and suggest improvements to processes, policies and procedures
- Deliver close and audit preparation, as related to payroll accounts.

Education and Experience
- Associate's degree with relevant payroll or accounting coursework may be acceptable, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience with payroll software such as Paycom, ADP, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of payroll laws and regulatory compliance at federal, state, and local levels.
- Experience reconciling payroll-related accounts and preparing payroll reports.

- Proficient with Paycom and Kronos timekeeping systems.

- Proven ability to be organized, detail oriented and accurate.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrated success in operating effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong knowledge of relevant federal and local payroll laws/regulations, and a focus on continuing education of same.
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
