Responsibilities

The Operations and Engineering Director will be responsible for overseeing all engineering for the entire US. The purpose of this critical role is to lead the engineering department from hiring / training new team members to managing projects and preparing the budget of the team. The Operations and Engineering Director plays an active part in the development of a project. They work with their team of engineers to set goals, plan projects, build a timeline, and stay within budget. Their duties and responsibilities also include project management, hiring new team members, presenting budgets and plans to other departments, and meeting with upper-level management. Often, these professionals involve themselves with administrative, financial and human resource tasks to help promote the success of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer focused (determining customer needs, observing the nuances of what they need, etc)
  • Manage all engineering activities and teams across their assigned territory
  • All permitting, easements, design, scheduling, etc
  • Predominantly approving structural designs, design engineering, poles/towers designs, etc
  • Overseeing engineer teams
  • Managing department budgets
  • Designing engineering strategies
  • Verifying project compliance with engineering best practices
  • Hiring department engineers
  • Collaborating with company stakeholders
  • Updating department policies and procedures
  • Certified by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES)
  • Responsible Charge for Company Licensing
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer/Certified in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering in a minimum of 15 states; preferred state of NC
  • A director who specializes in structural engineering will analyze proposed project plans to determine if a potential structure meets engineering best practices and safety standards or oversee those that possess this skill set
  • A director who specializes in electrical engineering will help resolve complex electrical problems for individuals working on an electrical project or oversee those that possess this skill set
  • Civil engineers plan, design, and supervise the construction and maintenance of building and infrastructure projects. These projects may include facilities, bridges, roads, tunnels, and water and sewage systems or oversee those that possess this skill set
  • 10 years of engineering experience predominantly approving structural designs and design engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Extensive Telecom Experience
  • PMP
