We're seeking a talented Commissioning Agent to join our rapidly growing Commissioning (Cx) group. Employment Type: Full-time
Work Schedule: Hybrid - 3 days in-office, 2 days remote
Salary Range: $105,000-$130,000, based on experience
Career Level: Mid-level
Location: Long Beach, CA


General Responsibilities
As a Commissioning Agent, you will lead, plan, and coordinate commissioning activities across all phases of a project-from design through post-construction. You'll perform design reviews, develop commissioning documentation, and conduct field testing to ensure systems meet owner requirements and design intent.


Design & Planning
Review project drawings, specifications, and submittals for compliance with owner requirements and sustainability goals
Identify design issues related to operability, maintainability, and code compliance
Coordinate commissioning tasks with construction schedules
Testing & Documentation
Develop detailed pre-functional and functional test plans
Conduct field testing and diagnose minor controls or operational issues
Document issues and track resolution across all project phases
Prepare commissioning reports and assist in developing O&M manuals
Support project certification documentation when required
Project Management & Communication
Manage commissioning projects involving multiple trades
Communicate clearly with internal and external teams to maintain positive relationships
Deliver projects on time and under budget while maintaining quality standards


Position Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (preferred)
Certified Commissioning Authority (ACG) or Certified Commissioning Professional (BCA), or ability to obtain within 6 months
LEED GA or AP (desirable but not required)


Experience Required
6-9 years of experience in commissioning documentation and field testing
Functional knowledge of building systems across disciplines (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, controls, lighting, etc.)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and NewForma
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Project management experience preferred
