Job Title:Shipfitter (3rd Class)

Location:Pascagoula, MS

Job Overview: TheShipfitter (3rd Class)is responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts and braces them in position within the hull of the vessel for welding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Determines the position of structural components working from blueprints or templates.
• Positions parts in hull of vessel and aligns parts in relation to each other.
• Marks location of holes to be drilled and installs temporary fasteners to hold parts in place for welding or riveting.
• Installs packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members.
• Tack welds clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
• Bends, flanges, cuts, and shapes plates, beams, and other heavy metal parts.

Qualifications:

• One (1) year of marine or six (6) months of continuous Company experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Must be able to demonstrate Structural fitting skills by passing a hands-on craft test.
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to accurately perform layout, cutting with a torch, metric measuring (i.e. cm, mm, etc.).
• Comprehends basic knowledge of blueprints, sketches, and templates.
• Accurate in performing the following processes layout, cutting, measuring, and fitting.
