Job Description

MISSION:

To provide film for radiographers and operate darkroom process equipment to develop exposed film for evaluation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Film Orders

Objective: to accurately fill film orders requested by radiographers.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reviews film orders, including size, type and number of cassettes.
  • Loads film into cassettes; puts cassettes in pass box when completed; unloads cassettes.
  • Cuts and tapes special film.
  • Maintains film inventory records; orders film or notifies supervisor to order film.
  • Maintains film cassettes; replaces or repairs worn cassettes. (LSBO, TBO only)
  • Darkroom Processing

Objective: to process film and maintain proper chemistry in processor.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Tests chemical replenishment rates, and water and/or chemical temperatures to assure compliance with specifications; accurately records results.
  • Processes test film to assure proper operation and processing time of industrial processor.
  • Performs minor cleaning of processor. (LSBO, TBO only)
  • Removes jammed film from processor as needed.
  • Monitors darkroom temperature levels.
  • Safety

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems.
  • Maintains logs and records
  • Meets all production and quality standards.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Performs other duties as requested.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND/OR MACHINERY USED:

  • Film processor
  • Film cutter
  • Cutting board
  • Scissors/tape

TRAINING

  • Training is provided on the job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in darkroom processing and chemistry background preferred, OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow instructions on work orders, Quality Control Manuals, and other technical instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition and subtraction)
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, and in a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
