Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Configuration Specialist - 2nd Shift (Contract) to join our production planning department based in Columbus, MS.

After initial training period, this position will work 2nd shift hours Monday - Friday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm CT.

In this administrative role you'll manage, coordinate, and monitor all configuration related activities associated with the identification and implementation of TC and STC design changes. Plan and prepare the documentation required for proper configuration control I.A.W. the requirements of the supported program and aids in ensuring the CM related contractual customer requirements are achieved. Manage the internal configuration control process and related activities and support the Configuration Manager in all design control related issues.

Your Working Environment:

On the eastern border of Mississippi you'll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It's here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your Challenges:

Primary Responsibilities:

Process: 34%

  • Issue, control, coordinate, and monitor all applicable configuration changes and relevant actions.

  • Maintain a reference database of Change requests and notify all parties of applicable changes.

  • Maintain standard processes of configuration control between the two sites in NA (MS/TX).

  • Assist in the monitoring and controlling of all configuration relevant design data in SAP.

  • Issue, control, and coordinate all applicable STC configuration changes as they relate to production and retrofit operations.

Archive: 33%

  • Ensure that assigned controlled document storage locations are maintained with the relevant approved design data I.A.W. company procedures.

  • Store and maintain records of Configuration / Print Room activities for historical and statistical purposes.

Organization: 33%

  • Organize, moderate, and administrate the change boards including preparation of the agenda, recording & monitoring actions, and preparation & distribution of the minutes of meeting.

  • Manages the certified design Bill of Material, configuration lists, and delivery I.A.W. the requirements of the supported program.

  • Create and maintain configuration baselines.

  • Prepare customer documentation packages of STC configurations applied in retrofit and production operations.

  • Interfaces with Engineering, Data Group, Production Control, Production Engineering, Quality Assurance and all company internal departments needing configuration data.

Your Boarding Pass:

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in configuration administration with an integrated production planning or development & manufacturing system, such as SAP

  • Must be a US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)

  • Knowledge of Airbus Helicopter and Airbus Group CM processes and procedures

  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and related certification and data quality requirements

  • Strong knowledge of technical terms.

  • Knowledge of Industrial engineering

  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English

  • Ability to use mainframe and PC computers, and associated hardware and software (MS Office especially Excel and Word), SAP (Module MM, PP, Outlook).

Preferred:

  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: 100% Onsite

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily

  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Intermittent

  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Intermittent

  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. N/A

  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Intermittent

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily

  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 1 or 2 times yearly

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily

  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.

This position is a temporary (contract) position with no specific time period but could be extended or shortened as needed. Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.
