Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Hazardous Waste Technician to join our team on a FULL TIME basis at our Cuyahoga Falls, OH location. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe collection, packaging, and disposal of hazardous waste generated in our lab, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations. This position is ideal for candidates eager to learn new techniques and methods in the environmental science field, with ample opportunities for growth and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Collect hazardous waste from satellite lab areas across the facility.
  • Safely package hazardous waste into drums, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
  • Coordinate the transportation of hazardous waste with our contracted vendor.
  • Dispose of old samples and containers according to established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of waste management activities and generate reports as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols to minimize risk and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist in managing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Learn and apply various analytical methods and preparation techniques relevant to environmental science.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; a college degree in Chemistry, Biology, Geology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Training: Must have completed OSHA-40 HRS training. Additional EESOH-MIS specific training is a plus.
  • Experience: Prior experience in hazardous waste management is preferred, with a strong understanding of hazardous material identification and management.
  • Skills:

    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Access) and other relational databases.
    • Strong physical dexterity and the ability to safely move and load heavy drums and containers using material handling equipment.
    • Excellent multi-tasking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.




Work Environment:



  • This role involves working in a laboratory setting with regular handling of hazardous materials. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols.


Physical Demands:



  • The role requires physical dexterity and the ability to safely move and handle heavy drums and containers using material handling equipment.
