Actuarial Modeling Pre-Sales Specialist (Pathwise)

This is a remote role, with the opportunity to work virtually from anywhere within the United States, with the ability to travel 10-20% as needed.

What the day will look like

In your Actuarial Pre-Sales role, you will be at the forefront of bringing a new paradigm of actuarial modeling capabilities, via PathWise, to the market in North America. This will be a highly visible role both to management within Aon and to actuarial leadership across the life industry.

Occasional travel (10-20%) may be required as needed to progress sales opportunities and/or represent the Aon PathWise team at industry conferences.

Principal Responsibilities:

Business Development Support
  • Participate in tailored demonstrations to new prospective PathWise clients.
  • Develop models specific to prospective client requirements.
  • Manage and run client proofs-of-concept (POCs) including the delivery of hands-on training exercises for new PathWise users.
  • Participate in industry, academic, and internal research projects.
  • Develop and deliver presentations on emerging issues pertaining to the insurance industry and the financial services industry.
  • Attend industry and client conferences.
Modeling and Development Services in Service of Prospective Clients
  • Build insurance liability models, focusing on reserve and capital calculations for US, Canadian, and Bermudian companies based on appropriate regulatory standards.
  • Build and maintain financial asset models for use in balance sheet projections of financial services companies.
  • Build and maintain Economic Scenario Generators used in the valuation of financial assets and insurance liabilities.
  • Further the development of robust processes for hedging, strategic asset allocation, scenario generator calibration, insurance company financial reporting, etc.
  • Participate in the expansion of PathWise functionality as required or as requested by clients

How this opportunity is different

You will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Solutions & Technology Group (STG) within Aon Life Solutions. You will be based in New York or Chicago (or work virtually in the US). As an Associate Director, you will report directly to the Managing Director and Head of PathWise Business Development, North America.

STG provides high-efficiency computing software, consulting services as well as advisory services to financial intermediaries, primarily insurance companies. STG's high-performance software platform, PathWise, provides companies with the ability to easily model financial obligations without involved coding and is run on Graphical Processing Units (GPUs), making it the fastest, readily available software platform in the insurance industry.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 5+ years of actuarial modeling experience in the life insurance industry in a pricing/hedging/valuation role. Member of Society of Actuaries preferred (ASA+).
  • Experience in object-oriented programming concepts (Python programming experience preferred).
  • Strong valuation experience in US/Canadian/Bermudian life and/or annuity insurance products and regulations (e.g. LICAT, US GAAP/LDTI, VM-20/21/22, BMA EBS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of US, Canadian, and Bermuda capital and reserving requirements for the life insurance industry, covering products such as Indexed and Variable Life / Annuities, ULSG, and traditional life insurance products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, a related field, or equivalent years of industry experience.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $120,000 to $140,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
