Job Overview

The Senior Building Automation System Administrator is responsible for advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS) engineering, specializing in the Metasys Johnson Controls system within a healthcare environment, such as the Anschutz Medical Campus and Network of Care facilities. The Senior BAS Engineer ensures optimal performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of BAS and HVAC systems, leveraging expertise in vibration analysis and building optimization fault detection platforms. This role involves project management, collaborating with IT, facilities, and clinical teams to meet operational needs, and may include guiding lower-level staff.

Additional Information
Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm. Work hours may vary depending on the need of the department. This role will also require variable weekend, holiday and on-call commitments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Installs or implements, configures, tests and monitors application system workstations and servers. Schedules and performs complex software installations or implementations, enhancements, patches and upgrades.
  • Administers and maintains the application security, user setup, role privilege definitions, security groups, and security definitions.
  • Effectively collaborates with business units to develop and implement programmatic solutions for business needs. Works with application developers, vendors and customers to understand business requirements and application and system related impacts and ensures requirements are addressed.
  • Partners with developers and business analysts to ensure successful project implementation of software installation and upgrades.
  • Builds workflows associated with applications, building functionality for end users, and configuring systems to meet business functional needs and application performance requirements.
  • Implements migrating, versioning and code tracking for software environments.
  • Works with system database administrators on database setup and management as needed for application support.
  • Trouble-shoots installation and fixes system issues related to the application environments and engages with vendors when necessary.
  • Documents the creation or modification of an application or program accurately and completely to provide a user guide and program instructions in accordance with established standards, templates, naming conventions and timelines.
  • Provides end-user training.
  • Monitors systems for performance, availability, and capacity limits and addresses concerns and issues that arise to promote a stable and efficient environment.
  • Manages audit logs and processes according to internal policies and in alignment with annual audit requirements.
  • Documents work requests, incidents, changes, and problems in IT division ticketing system according to policies.
  • Updates and maintains planning tools and work effort tracking tools according to established departmental and team practices. Identifies documentation gaps and opportunities for improvement and makes recommendations to remediate.
  • Uses information gathered from monitoring activities to propose new standards and best practices that will promote system improvements.
  • Assumes on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Expands technology knowledge through personal learning and growth.
  • Documents all work hours in IT Division time tracking system according to established policies.
  • May operationally manage or lead projects.
  • May serve as subject matter expert (SME) for contract review.
  • May collaborate with system users and other IT professionals to evaluate, plan, design, develop, test, implement and maintain systems.
  • May analyze and diagnose system problems, identify root cause, and then solve the problem or escalates issues to other appropriate IT staff when outside area of responsibility or expertise.
  • May provide Tier 1 and 2 end user support for supported systems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree is required.
  • EXPERIENCE - Minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.
  • EQUIVALENCY - Combination of post-high school education, job related certification, and/or related experience equivalent to nine (9) years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Experience: Seven (7) years in Building Automation Systems, with at least five (ali5) years in a healthcare setting and proficiency in Metasys Johnson Controls. Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $94,871.97 to $142,307.96
