ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Accountant is responsible for completing month-end close. This position also provides financial information to leadership by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.
WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE
- Prepares monthly journal entries and adjusts entries.
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information.
- Prepares the balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other reports.
- Prepares various month-end summary schedules and reconciliations.
- Meets established deadlines for compiling data for financial transactions and reports.
- Researches any significant variances and takes action when necessary.
- Monitors and reconciles bank accounts.
- Maintains the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules.
- Monitors and manages our Flight Plan Online program.
- Responsible for accounts payable function.
- Manages and monitors all accounts receivable aging.
- Reviews inventory costing and ensures it is accurately reflected on financials.
- Reconciles inventory monthly and makes adjustments when necessary.
- Manages and monitors approved capital projects for DAI & subs.
- Participates in special projects as needed.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Follows all company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required.
- CPA is preferred.
- Three years of related work experience is required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to handle deadlines.
- Ability to work long hours in peak season.
- Organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks and BBNA is preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
- Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
- Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.
Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB
The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
