Patient Care Assistant-Radiology

Under direct supervision, assists the members of the radiology department in provision of efficient and safe patient care. Assists registered technologists with multiple types of radiologic examinations

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assists registered technologist with performance of radiologic procedures; includes reviewing order information, preparation of room, and positioning patient. It does not include making radiologic exposures.

2. Reports pertinent patient information to technologist or radiology staff. Obtains medical assistance for any patient who becomes ill while in the area, and provides patient comfort.

3. Performs tasks according to hospital/department policies or standards of care. Adheres to departmental established schedules/polices including but not limiting to double identification and hand hygiene.

4. Facilitates patient throughput through knowledge of unit and departmental routines

5. Communicates effectively with staff, students, patients and the public

6. Follows oral and written instructions

7. Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one's duties.

Qualifications: Students currently enrolled in a Radiation Sciences Program (can be a program outside of UIHC)
