Part of Dover Corporation's Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands: Rotary Lift, Chief, Forward, Direct-Lift, Ravaglioli, Hanmecson, Revolution, Elektron, Blitz, Nogra, Butler, Space and Sirio.

Summary:

Advanced Controls Engineer is part of the Product Design Engineering team, which is responsible for electrical control systems in vehicle service and repair equipment. Position is responsible for the design and specification of control systems for new product development and design enhancements for existing products. This position will interface closely with other areas of the business, including Product Management, Operations, and Supply Chain.

Responsibilities

Percentage of Time

Design of control systems (electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) for new and existing products

25%

Circuit layout and circuit analysis for embedded hardware control systems

25%

Collaboration with product design team and parts suppliers regarding the interpretation of control requirements and assembly of control systems: including component specification, wiring diagrams, test specs, etc.

15%

Responding to requests for product improvements and quality concerns

15%

Developing test systems for product validation and component qualification

10%

Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience combined.
  • Understanding of basic controls engineering principles (controllers, sensors, feedback loops, etc.).
  • Proficient understanding of schematic design and hardware analysis.
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and embedded microcontrollers (C code)
  • Experience designing control panels for industrial applications and machine control.

Preferred:

  • Hands on experience with control theory, especially embedded control, is desirable.
  • Experience with Motor specification and control (hydraulic pump applications).
  • Experience with embedded real-time operating systems.
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Automotive industry.
