Command, Control, Intelligence, and Encryption (C2I&E) By joining our Command, Control, Intelligence, and Encryption (C2I&E) business, you will be a member of a team dedicated to providing innovative solutions that streamline the preparation and execution of intricate, mission-critical operations. We focus on enhancing situational awareness, tactical command and control, and seamless video data exchange capabilities within a dynamic, multi-domain environment.
Ultra I&C is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer 3 to join our development and integration team. This role may be worked in Austin, TX or Huntsville, AL. This is a senior-level, hands-on engineering role requiring deep understanding of software/systems engineering, test methodology, and real-world system validation. The ideal candidate will bring at least six (6) years of relevant engineering experience, a Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, and a track record of owning and delivering complex system-level test campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute system-level test plans and procedures based on engineering requirements, technical specifications, and user scenarios in accordance with IEEE (Standard for Software and System Test Documentation) or equivalent standards
- Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers during requirements and design phases to drive testability and validation traceability
- Develop automated and manual test scripts that simulate operational environments and mission profiles for defense-related systems
- Build and maintain test beds and lab environments that emulate deployed configurations
- Analyze test results, identify root causes, and drive resolution of complex system integration issues
- Lead test events including formal qualification testing (FQT) and acceptance testing (FAT)
- Maintain and improve regression testing suites for continuous integration
- Document test coverage, gaps, defects, and provide detailed input to program reviews
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- 6+ years of hands-on test engineering experience, including system-level testing in a complex DoD environment
- Active Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- Demonstrated experience designing, documenting, and executing test plans/procedures in accordance with industry standards
- Proficiency with test tools and lifecycle management platforms such as JIRA, Digital.ai Agility, or similar
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Army Battle Management Systems, C4ISR systems, or air/ground/sea tactical networks
- Hands-on experience with tactical data link systems including ADSI, JRE, BOSS, or MLST3
- Familiarity with MIL-STD protocols, interface control documents (ICDs), and DoD test & evaluation (T&E) processes
- Experience integrating and testing systems with radio, SATCOM, or RF components
- Background in hardware/software integration, real-time simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
