What to Expect
Tesla is seeking a Staff Quality Systems Engineer to lead quality systems establishment and oversight for our global remanufacturing sites, traveling to audit compliance/effectiveness and managing at least one technician per site (direct reports) for targeted audits. This hands-on role demands dependability, integrity, and a servant leadership approach to empower site teams while upholding our uncompromising high bar on safety and quality standards. What You'll Do
- Establish and standardize quality systems across global remanufacturing sites, including process design, documentation, and implementation aligned with high standards
- Travel to sites to conduct audits on compliance, system effectiveness, and performance, identifying gaps and driving corrective actions
- Manage and mentor distributed technicians who perform select system audits, ensuring consistent execution and reporting
- Develop feedback loops, CAPA processes, and metrics monitoring to resolve issues proactively and prevent recurrence
- Collaborate with site and cross-functional teams to integrate quality into remanufacturing operations, eliminating waste and enhancing repeatability
- Champion continuous improvement and first principles thinking to evolve systems beyond baseline requirements
- Contribute to strategic planning for global scalability and regulatory alignment
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in quality engineering, with experience establishing/auditing systems in global manufacturing/remanufacturing
- Proven track record managing remote/distributed teams and conducting effective audits
- Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001) and tools/methodologies (e.g. PFMEA, root cause analysis, CAPA)
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 50%, including international)
- Self-motivated with "A Message to Garcia" dependability and bias for action
- Servant leadership style, empowering others through guidance and strong communication
- Impeccable judgment, uncompromising integrity on quality/safety, and resilience in dynamic environments
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification is a plus
