The Laboratory of Neuroimaging (LNI), led by Nora D. Volkow, M.D., in the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) intramural program, is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral fellows to join its team at the Clinical Research Center on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. This position focuses on multimodal neuroimaging and neuropsychological research in substance use disorders. The fellow will contribute to clinical trials evaluating brain function and behavior in patient populations, including individuals with alcohol use disorder and opioid use disorder. The successful candidate will (1) assist with the design, management, and implementation of clinical trials; (2) Conduct data analysis and contribute to the publication of findings; (3) Develop and pursue independent research questions aligned with LNI's mission; (4) Work closely with patient populations and multidisciplinary research teams. LNI conducts structural, functional, and neurochemical imaging studies in human subjects using PET, MRI, simultaneous PET/MRI, and EEG. Fellows join a vibrant and collaborative scientific community with access to world-class facilities and mentorship aimed at fostering independent research careers. Qualifications: (1) A Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, or a related field; (2) Strong interest in neuroimaging and clinical research (3) Excellent oral and written communication skills; (4) Ability to work effectively in collaborative team settings. Prior experience with neuroimaging analysis (e.g., fMRI, PET, EEG), programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Linux environment), or software tools (e.g., AFNI, FSL, SPM, FreeSurfer) is advantageous but not required.
