The Department of Pharmacology, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Shengyi Iris Sun. The focus of this lab position is to combine cutting-edge technologies to investigate the regulation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) homeostasis and associated protein degradation in physiological and disease contexts, with a specific focus on metabolism. More info about the Sun Laboratory can be found at https://shengyisun.wixsite.com/website. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) degree in hand by start date. Preferred applicants will have a demonstrated publication track record. Strong background and expertise in the following areas is preferred: biochemistry, metabolism, molecular biology, and/or in vivo mouse models. The qualified individuals are expected to lead their own projects, to collaborate on other projects, and to contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grants. Postdoctoral employment is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a doctoral degree within the previous five years. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. A completed pre-employment health screen is required for this position prior to employment. This is an exempt-level, benefited position.
