Knife River has an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Supervisor. This position will be located in the Burnet area reporting most days to our Honey Creek Quarry. A company truck will be provided for this position. Our QC Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the investigation and resolution of aggregate materials quality issues. You will visit and stay at job sites, collect, and analyze data, test materials, and direct the testing of materials to technicians. You will perform and report on laboratory tests on a variety of mined and constructed materials.
Qualifications:
A successful Aggregate Quality Control Supervisor will have:
* A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent critical thinking skills
* A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
* Preferred: 2+ years aggregate testing experience
* Preferred: Aggregate Production as well as Grading and Base certifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, and endurance.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant materials and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
- Compiles and writes training materials and conducts training sessions on quality control activities, material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development and administrative application.
- Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Provide consultant expertise on mix designs; Troubleshoot and interpret specifications with field managers.
- Monitor flow of quality technicians field data.
- Supervise mix design process and personnel.
- Aggregate mix designs and field start-up testing for compliance to include Superpave, Marshall or other design methods as needed.
- Research new processes and technology.
- Develop standardized quality measurement systems to support job completion.
- Monitor production cost relative to bid price.
- Perform grade staking, as necessary.
- Participate and provide appropriate leadership on the quality department team.
- Maintain current certifications and expand certifications to allow cross-training throughout company.
- Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
- Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
- Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.
- Also responsible for operating mechanical and electrical test equipment to check apparatus for conformance to standard requirements.
