OverviewMicrosoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the responsible for powering Microsoft's Cloud by engineering silicon to cloud optimal systems enabling our customers to achieve more. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Copilot, Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. We are looking for a Hardware Program Manager with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure. As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow, the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, at high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware development and manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. This Hardware PM role in the Compute TPM Team will play a pivotal role in delivering new server hardware and software technologies at scale that have a significant impact to the business and Azure. This candidate will collaborate with both internal Microsoft teams and external suppliers (Semiconductor providers, OEMs/ODMs, CPU, system, memory, and others) to drive delivery of core technologies that enable our Cloud infrastructure. ResponsibilitiesDrive virtual teams of functional leads including members from hardware and software engineering, sourcing, supply chain, networking and datacenter operations from documenting a clear Plan-of-Record (POR) for the new product development to leading the project team to meet stated milestones. Drive the development, planning & execution of a holistic cross functional product development and/or launch strategy. Provides technical leadership and identify technical risks. Collaborate with internal and external technology development partners to form a cohesive development plan. Have an in-depth understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables, and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure. Leverage experience and engineering skills to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross functional team. Responsible for effective communication and escalation of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made. Hold accountability for team and most or all portions of the work to deliver best in class architecture solutions. The ability to engage subject matter experts across disciplines to deliver the best outcomes. Conducts risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and mitigation of risks, recovery from risks. Communicate to and regularly interact with senior leadership, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions. Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it's needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate. Ensure cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards development milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure development, launch, and deployments. Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan of record to stakeholders.
