Job Description:

The Senior Supervisor - Production Control manages, supervises, and coordinates activities of manufacturing, including the coordination of material, parts, and assemblies within or between functional groups. This role provides overall work direction and implementation to assigned personnel. The Supervisor develops and maintains manufacturing operating procedures, material estimates to complete, work instructions, equipment identification, performance reviews, and training. The position is responsible for maintaining material budgets and manufacturing scheduling in accordance with divisional goals and contractual requirements. Additionally, the Supervisor leads process improvement initiatives, implements lean manufacturing principles, and collaborates with suppliers to optimize material flow and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate written data from sales orders, budgets, product specifications, operation travelers, parts and material inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operations and workflow.
  • Develop, review, and maintain master manufacturing schedule.
  • Develop and maintain material delivery schedules that maintain established product delivery dates using material lead times that include special testing, preparation, or packaging requirements.
  • Maintain production budgets, including "Material Estimate to Complete" data.
  • Distribute work orders to functions, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
  • Confer with manufacturing, engineering, planning, and suppliers to resolve problems affecting production, material quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Determine work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Maintain and enforce company required and standard operating policies and procedures that include, but are not limited to, ESD, contamination control, traceability, MSDS, and safety.
  • Develop and administer performance reviews, assign improvement goals, monitor performance to goals, and recommend wage adjustments or advancement per company standard policy to assigned personnel.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Interview and screen prospective material and production control personnel to divisional standard operating practices.
  • Study and standardize manufacturing procedures and systems to improve efficiency of subordinates and division.
  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives, utilizing lean manufacturing tools and methodologies (such as 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) to drive operational excellence and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, resolve supply chain issues, and support continuous improvement in supplier performance and quality.
  • Maintain harmony among assigned workers and resolve grievances.
  • Maintain attendance records and dispense disciplinary action, as required, in accordance with company operating policies.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • May be asked to perform other duties not outlined in this description.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • BA degree, trade school, or better, in Material and Production Control technology.
  • Minimum of 10 years supervisory/managerial experience in the Military or Aerospace Electronic Manufacturing environment, with the last 5 years hands-on material/production control and stockroom in an electronics manufacturing area.
  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with MRP.
  • Demonstrated experience in process improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working with suppliers to resolve material, quality, and delivery issues.
  • Must have supervisory/managerial skills, work well with minimal supervision, and have the ability to train assigned personnel.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering blueprints, schematics, drawings, parts lists, SOW, specifications, military specifications, and other documentation pertaining to the manufacturing of a product.
  • A team player with the ability to interact with all other functions including manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering disciplines, and suppliers.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and other computer peripherals in a professional environment.

  • ISO-9000 & 9001 experience
  • IPC-A-610 & IPC-J-STD-001 experience
  • Team or self-management teams experience
  • Work experience in Space related equipment
  • Certification or formal training in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $64,480 - $146,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
