Job Summary

Responsible for performing basic electronic, electrical, and mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on medical equipment. This role involves following detailed testing and repair procedures, conducting installations and inspections, and maintaining accurate service documentation. The technician will work under close supervision, ensuring equipment readiness and safety compliance. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this position.

Essential Functions
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Perform electronic, electrical, and mechanical repairs/corrective maintenance on medical equipment, including specialized physiological life support and non-life support devices. Ensure timely and quality repairs to maintain equipment readiness for departmental use. Coordinate repairs with vendors and departments as needed.
  • Scheduled Maintenance: Conduct scheduled maintenance on various types of medical equipment and systems, including specialized systems. Adhere to maintenance schedules to optimize equipment use and dependability for employees and medical staff, ensuring a safe environment for patients. Ensure required preventive maintenance (PM) is completed in compliance with established job plans and procedures.
  • Testing and Procedures: Follow detailed written testing and repair procedures. Tool and Equipment Usage: Use tools and equipment appropriately, knowing when and how to use them efficiently, effectively, and safely.
  • Installations and Inspections: Perform installations and incoming inspections. Coordinate installations with vendors when required and validate vendor actions.

  • Autonomous Decision Making: Exercise moderate autonomous decision-making. Assignments are received with expected results, due dates, and general procedures to follow. Make decisions in the interest of patient safety, departmental operations, and proper machinery function.
  • On-Call Program: Participate in the on-call program.
Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma
  • Understanding of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair basic equipment issues
  • Able to work in an on-call rotation about 4-5 times per year
