Professionals in these roles drive continuous improvement, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction within organizations.

Discipline Description

Quality Assurance personnel develop policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations. They ensure products, services, or processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. They develop, assure, and maintain the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, and quality audits/reviews.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Provide quality control support to the project team and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results. Perform construction quality control inspection and surveillance activities in support of project and/or maintenance activities.
Safety is a primary responsibility in each job performed. Obtain safety training, obey safety rules, and make safety an integral part of each task. Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
Review design output documents in accordance with approved procedures to establish inspection requirements in quality assurance procedures, construction plans, and/or work packages. Coordinate with internal and external sources to resolve quality issues and provide status of the inspection/test activities for the work activity. Review technical criteria, personnel qualifications and work sequence on work packages including the notation of hold points prior to performance of inspections. Perform or direct the quality inspection activities of subordinate QC engineers and other inspection personnel as assigned. Assist in resolution of code, specifications and drawing interpretations. Perform or supervise the performance of inspection, witness, test, surveillance, and documents the results of the inspection activities. Assess the completeness of construction activities and quality verification documentation prior to preparation of quality control releases for turnover. Review subcontractor's quality program for compliance to established procedures, attends mobilization meetings and monitors their activities for proper implementation. Review suppliers and/or subcontractor's quality verification documentation for traceability and specification compliance. Review, assess and status subcontractors' costs, manpower and materials. Approve subcontracts invoices and application for payment.
Required Experience/Skills:
* Practical field experience in civil (soils, concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, protective coatings) quality control inspections.
* Ability to develop, review, and implement inspection plans in accordance with technical documents, codes and standards.
* Competency in reviewing and issuing non-conformance reports and coordinating corrective actions.
* Strong organizational and communication skills to foster a collaborative and safety-oriented work environment.
* Experience working under NQA-1 quality assurance programs at DOE facilities.
* Practical civil/structural field experience within the last 12 months.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least ten years of experience (YOE), OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least eight years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE)
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

* Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
