Department Summary Facilities is a service organization responsible for the planning, renovation, maintenance, and repair of University buildings and facilities; and the provision of utilities, vehicle rental, refuse collection, custodial and other services essential to the mission of the University of North Texas. Position Overview This position is responsible for small equipment repairs, cleaning and sanitation emergencies, delivering custodial supplies and special projects. Those who work an overnight shift may earn addition compensation. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Operates University vehicle to deliver supplies. Acts as liaison between a customer and a department in arranging details of work requested. Performs repairs to small custodial equipment. Responds to custodial emergency calls, performing required cleaning and sanitation duties. Responsible for cleaning duties of all flooring, furniture, walls, ceilings, windows, windowsills, woodwork, restrooms, drinking fountains and other surfaces of assigned work area. Completes special projects as assigned. Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed. Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum education or experience requirements. Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to follow oral and written instructions ability to read and understand labels on chemicals. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring and mixing chemicals). Sufficient knowledge of cleaning methods and the proper use of cleaning equipment. Ability to operate vacuum cleaner, floor waxer, floor buffer, and other cleaning equipment. Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating cleaning equipment, and lifting of materials and equipment. Ability to recognize and to report maintenance needs in buildings. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed. Preferred Qualifications Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep records and complete forms accurately. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks (example: measuring). Sufficient knowledge of proper use of equipment. Physical ability to perform work involving standing, stooping, operating equipment, and lifting of materials and equipment. Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
