Inside the Role

Responsible for Financial Reporting functions of legal entities within TN segment. Responsibilities include oversight of General Ledger Closing and related activities, execution of Financial Reporting process of DTNA group companies and TN segment, implementation and coordination of Sustainability Reporting, M&A accounting support, Tax and Treasury Accounting, managing External Auditor quarterly reviews and the annual audit, and maintaining adequate Internal Controls.

This function maintains a close working relationship with Finance and Controlling organization and operational management to ensure that Financial Reporting department is on top of key business developments and special topics, specifically as they relate to maintaining complete and accurate financial statements. The role also ensures transparency and explanation of results to business partners at all times.

Executive leadership, people development, and driving company wide and segment level financial reporting projects to completion are also key components of this position.

The role also drives implementation of key projects, supports emerging topics, and facilitates transformation towards sustainability reporting.

This is a part-time/job share position with the expectation of 20-24 hours per week

What You Drive at DTNA

  • Executive Leadership:
    • Lead, motivate and develop the team based on departmental, Finance and Company's vision and strategy. Ensure target-oriented internal communication and achievement of agreed targets.
    • Be a Coaching Leader for direct reports by supporting their development and providing regular feedback.
    • Provide financial and business support services to all business units regarding business models and business processes to meet new and changing business needs. Effectively communicate accounting policy to the organization.
  • Emerging topics and projects oversight, steering and support:
    • Drive and steer implementation of key projects and transformation activities (Segment Closing, Sustainability Reporting, complex M&A projects, One View P&L, IFRS 18 implementation, Auditor change)
    • Ensure strong level of collaboration and support with business partners within TN and alignment with central functions
    • Drive Real Time Financial Reporting Finance Initiative and enable advance analytics for review of relevant financial data
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Ensure excellent management and execution of the monthly reporting processes (MIF global release) in regards to quality, accuracy and speed, and ensure that results are reviewed with FC local management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Oversee activities of external auditors to maintain budget and audit efficiency. Ensure that findings and comments are addressed appropriately.
    • Drive research of key accounting issues and propose appropriate accounting treatment and policies in accordance with IFRS.
  • Sustainability Reporting:
    • Ensure excellent management and execution of the monthly close processes (cbFC) in regards to quality, accuracy and speed and ensure that results are reviewed with FC local management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Steer implementation and sustainment of efficient governance, coordination and internal controls over Sustainability Reporting (non-financial actuals) for TN segment for relevant KPIs and coordination of activities with Controlling and Business functions.
    • Oversee accounting and business case assessment for M&A projects including collaboration with Tax, Treasury, and Controlling to review and shape relevant agreements, provide input on accounting impacts and align key matters with external auditors.
  • Tax and Treasury Accounting:
    • Ensure excellent management and execution of monthly close processes and internal control activities for income taxes for all US and Canadian truck entities and DTFS
    • Ensure excellent management and execution of monthly close processes, financial reporting and internal control activities for treasury accounting processes of DTFNA and DTFCI including preparation of standalone audited financial statements
    • Drive research of key tax and treasury matters and propose appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS.
  • Shared Services and Continuous Improvement:
    • Focus on optimizing departmental cost structure by using the global shared service network to continue to outsource standardized low risk reporting activities and increase overall effectiveness and efficiency of Financial Reporting function
    • Maintain close relationship with outsource service provider and monitor performance to achieve high quality
    • Exhibit leadership in effecting organizational or system change to achieve productivity, efficiency and control improvements across all processes including external audit effort.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or 5+ years in public accounting
  • Over 7 years of experience in performing/overseeing Financial Reporting
  • Over 3 years of leadership experience managing and developing a team of finance professionals
  • Experience and background in IFRS, tax accounting, sustainability reporting is preferred
