ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to oversee all aspects of our accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in public accounting, hold an active CPA license, and currently manage a full-cycle monthly close process. Prior experience in digital media, entertainment, or high-growth environments is highly preferred. Exposure to working within a larger holding company or corporate structure is a plus but not required.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process

  • Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, revenue recognition, and consolidations

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Manage and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures

  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with tax advisors and auditors

  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders and executive leadership

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, legal, and content teams on business initiatives

  • Assist in the implementation of new systems and scale accounting processes to support growth

  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Active CPA required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree a plus

  • 10+ years of total accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in public accounting (Big 4 or large regional firm preferred)

  • Experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller in a digital media, entertainment, or scaling company

  • Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting issues

  • Proficiency with accounting and financial reporting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar)

  • Experience with Workday or similar ERP/General Ledger platforms is a plus

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience working within a portfolio company or a subsidiary of a larger organization

  • Familiarity with media/content business models and revenue recognition practices

  • Involvement in M&A, post-acquisition integration, or financial system rollouts

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $143,000.00-200,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
