Project Buyer II - Energy Storage SUMMARY Mortenson is currently seeking a Project Buyer II to join our Energy Storage Group responsible for working with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, and equipment for our Battery Storage Projects. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead procurement activities for multiple project buyouts at a time in adherence to the project requirements (schedules, budgets, etc.), supply chain processes and other requirements.
- Develop a good working relationship with Project Teams, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain Management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, interview prospective suppliers, and select suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost and delivery time.
- Work with manager to develop profitable purchasing strategies and propose procurement solutions that deliver value and reduce risk.
- Negotiate and purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification, and schedule requirements, as well as other various factors.
- Draft and execute purchase agreements, purchase orders and other contracting methods, ensure suppliers adhere to contractual terms and conditions, including timeliness and quality standards.
- Lead weekly project procurement status calls with Project Teams to provide status on all procurement activities.
- Lead weekly calls with key suppliers and various Project Teams to track order status from time of placing order until delivery, as well as monitoring any quality issues, and communicate status to project teams.
- Analyze individual markets, manage budget and increase margin on a regular basis, track trends in purchasing habits.
- Support Project Teams and Quality for returns of unacceptable products to suppliers.
- Visit project sites to better understand project team challenges and develop streamlined processes that can be implemented. Visits to key Suppliers facilities may also be required.
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum 4 years' experience in purchasing field
- Knowledge of construction processes and schedules, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
- Experience with EPC procurement is strongly preferred
- Strong customer service and analytical skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Current driver's license

The base pay range for this role is $74,600 - $111,900. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
