Salary range:
The university academic base salaries as to rank and step can be found here: UC Salary scales. However, for this position the total negotiated salary uses AAMC salary benchmarks for Anatomic Pathology ranging from $257,703-$521,964. This position includes membership in the health science compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The academic appointment may be at the Associate or Professor rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical or Clinical X series, depending on experience and extent of research effort. Incumbents in the HS series are expected to provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; perform public and University service; and contribute to scholarly activities. Incumbents in the Clinical X series are expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in the Clinical X series. An academic appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate. Applicants must have significant experience and/or fellowship training in general pathology and bone and soft tissue, hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD degree, must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible for, or currently hold, a medical license in the state of California. The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent record of successful collaboration and professionalism in working with others, a record of university and/or professional service activities, a commitment to education, and a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature. The candidate will be responsible for clinical services in bone and soft tissue as well as general surgical pathology, including on-call duty, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows. This position will serve the needs of UCI Health which include the 400+ bed state-of-the-art tertiary/quaternary care Douglas hospital located in the city of Orange, a new hospital and outpatient complex on the Irvine campus, and several community hospitals and outpatient clinics throughout Orange County. Founded in 1965, UCI is a top hospital and top-10 public university in U.S. News & World Report and home to several NIH-funded centers, including the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) and Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences (ICTS). The School of Medicine along with the Samueli Institute for Integrative Health, Schools of Nursing, Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Population & Public Health make up the UCI College of Health Sciences. The orthopedic oncology team at UCI Health is the most experienced and high volume of such services in the region and provides care as part of the world-class Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. This center is the only institution in Orange County carrying the National Cancer Institute's mark of excellence. The multidisciplinary sarcoma program at UCI Health has emerged as a central referral site for the Southern California region. UCI Health is the only academic medical center in Orange County, the nation's 6th largest county and one of the most desirable locations to live in the US.
