Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert IV (Supersonics).The Subject Matter Expert IV (Supersonics) provides high-level technical expertise and operational guidance in the testing, analysis, and support of Navy supersonic target systems, including the AQM-37 and GQM-163 (all variants). This role is critical to ensuring performance, safety, and reliability through the evaluation of Test and Evaluation (T&E) activities, ground tests, failure analyses, and ordnance handling. The SME IV must have extensive hands-on experience in target and explosive ordnance assembly and a deep understanding of propulsion, control, and stabilization systems. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Navy organizational structures such as the Competency Aligned Organization (CAO) and Integrated Product Teams (IPT).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in:

    • Test and Evaluation (T&E) of supersonic target platforms

    • Ground testing and failure analysis related to stabilization, control, ordnance, propulsion, and recovery systems

    • Evaluation of AQM-37 and GQM-163 (all variants) target systems

    • Target and Navy explosive ordnance assembly

  • In-depth knowledge of:

    • Stabilization, control, ordnance, and propulsion systems

    • All GQM-163 and AQM-37 variants and associated platform support and hardware within the scope of the Task Order

  • Familiarity with:

    • Navy's Competency Aligned Organizational (CAO) structure

    • Navy's Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the senior technical advisor for supersonic target systems (AQM-37 and GQM-163 variants)

  • Lead evaluations of T&E test events, including data review, analysis, and recommendations

  • Conduct and support ground tests and post-event failure analyses

  • Provide technical oversight and guidance on stabilization, propulsion, control, recovery, and ordnance systems

  • Lead or support the assembly of target systems and explosive ordnance in compliance with Navy standards

  • Collaborate with engineering, safety, and operational teams across IPT and CAO frameworks

  • Maintain and update technical documentation, procedures, and test reports

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, safety standards, and operational requirements
