DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in the veteran community. As the manager of the PA VETConnect veterans outreach program, you will play a vital role in identifying needs and resources for the program, as well as developing relationships with community partners to expand outreach capabilities and provide new services. In addition, you will have the chance to work closely with community leaders to identify potential resources within the community that can benefit veterans and their families. Through various means of communication, you will promote all veteran benefit programs and services to the public, community partners, and other service providers. This role also provides the opportunity to travel with outreach teams, allowing you to interact with different communities and gain a better understanding of the diverse needs and concerns of veterans, ultimately improving your ability to provide them with effective assistance. - Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch. Work hours may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Jonestown.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Veterans Services Officer Supervisor, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs, which included two years performing advocacy or outreach work for veterans' benefits and services programs and one year of supervisory experience for veterans' benefits and services programs, and a bachelor's degree in human services, business administration, public administration, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which included two years of analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility and performing advocacy or outreach work for veterans' benefits and services programs and one year of supervisory experience for veterans' benefits and services programs.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Completion of military service in a branch of the United States Armed Forces and separated under honorable conditions
- Knowledge of interviewing techniques used to gather information for public assistance programs and their eligibility requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Possess a valid PA Class C driver's license or equivalent
- Willing to travel which may require overnight stays on short notice
- Experience identifying available or potential resources that can provide veterans with services
- Experience identifying and promoting veteran benefits and services to the public; community partners; and federal, state, and local providers through formal or informal meetings, events, consultations, and speaking engagements
