Position Summary
The Procurement Director is responsible for developing a strategic approach to the company-wide process for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. This leadership role will direct procurement in partnership with internal vendor business relationship owners, legal, finance and risk. The Procurement Director is responsible for designing and establishing procurement processes, policies and procedures as well as building a centralized procurement function in support of business operations. The goal of the Procurement function is to augment current practices in vendor engagement, risk management and efficiency with a specific goal to reduce spend through savings or cost avoidance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate, and implement long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency
  • Partner with vendor business relationship owners to lead contract renewals as well as procurement of new goods and services in a way that promotes best practices for vendor engagement
  • Serve as the primary contact for procurement-related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation
  • Oversee contract development and negotiation of terms in conjunction with business owners and the legal team
  • Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the organization
  • Manage procurement policies, procedures and programs focused on enhancing organizational value and efficiency
  • In partnership with internal clients, develop requests for proposals and contracts (new and renewals); evaluate vendor responses and negotiate business terms; collaborate with internal business partners to make procurement decisions
  • Cultivate a network of diverse suppliers
  • Establish annual department budget and monitor performance to budget
  • Manage cross-functional team members to facilitate procurement processes by planning and organizing team workflow and activities as well as providing clear expectations
  • Foster a results-oriented environment that promotes accountability and prioritization of work
  • Interact with internal and external clients while providing extraordinary service
  • Develop and maintain trusted, positive relationships with employees, clients and vendors
  • Represent the company a highly professional manner
  • Maintain confidentiality; adhere to company policies and procedures; comply with laws, regulations and industry best practices


Education & Experience

Knowledge of:
  • Significant expertise in purchasing, supplier collaboration, development and compliance
  • Building a procurement and vendor engagement program
  • Solid analytical ability to process complex considerations for making decisions


Ability to:
  • Ability to influence others with fact-based insights and by consistently providing credible challenges to others involved in the decision-making process
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on process improvement initiatives and the creation and implementation of new processes
  • Lead Executive-level presentations
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a cross-functional team
  • Leverage verbal and written communication skills


Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics or a related field
  • MBA and/or graduate degree preferred
  • Professional procurement or supply chain credentials preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience in procurement


Benefits and Compensation

Salary offered is based on factors, including but not limited to, the job duties, required qualifications and relevant experience, and local market trends. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.

(Base Pay Range: $123,000 - $176,000/year)
