Salary Details:
*Hire rate $21.53/hr. After successful completion of the probationary period job rate will be $23.24/hr.
*This is a grade F union position with 1199C.

Position Summary:

The Sterilization Clerk within the Department of Instrument Management Services will receive, identify, disassemble, decontaminate, inspect, maintain, assemble, package, labels and sterilize all reusable supplies, instruments and patient care equipment for the School of Dentistry. Additionally, the Sterilization Clerk will transport, and issue instruments, supplies, and equipment maintained by Central Sterile Processing to students, residents, faculty and staff of the school. Other responsibilities will be to track instruments, supplies and equipment throughout the central sterile processing and dispensing operation using a computer-based system. The Sterilization Clerk must provide excellent customer service in performance of duties by interacting with students, faculty and staff in a professional, efficient and effective manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
*At least 1 year's experience in decontamination and sterilization of supplies, surgical instruments and equipment required.

Preferred Education and Experience:
*Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Extreme attention to detail.
*Must be extremely conscientious with regard to procedures that are repetitive.
*Must have basic computer skills.
*Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.

Essential duties:
*Receives, identifies, disassembles, decontaminates, inspects, maintains, assembles, packages, *labels and sterilizes many different types of dental instruments, special instruments cassettes, patient care equipment and carts.
*Checks and maintains serviceability of instruments, supplies and equipment.
*Process soiled / contaminated instruments and equipment.
*Maintains adequate and accurate quality controls and records that monitor and document the *operation and effectiveness of departmental equipment and processes.
*Receive, track and identifies all instruments and equipment for decontamination and sterilization.
*Sterilizes instruments and equipment.
*Handle and store sterile supplies to assure the availability.
*Maintain accurate documentation of all items received and issued.
*Dispenses and receives instruments and cassettes.
*Utilize computer and barcode scanning systems to track instruments, supplies and equipment.
*Check supply inventory and reorder.
*Clean equipment and tables, etc.
*Conduct inventory.
*Perform other related duties as assigned.
