Advantage Technical is hiring a Product Development Engineer (R&D) to support the integration of a newly acquired medical device product into our world-class operations. This is a hands-on engineering role perfect for a detail-oriented problem solver with experience in design controls, verification testing, and technical documentation in the medical device or regulated product space.

In this role, you'll play a key role in developing cutting-edge products, innovative materials, and sophisticated processes or equipment for projects of moderate complexity.

Essential Responsibilities



  • Project Contribution:

    • Collaborate within cross-functional teams on product design, development, and material testing.
    • Support activities including the preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research (including animal and clinical studies), report drafting, and process/test documentation.


  • Independent Planning:

    • Strategically plan and manage daily tasks to efficiently meet project milestones and deadlines.


  • Engineering Testing & Experiments:

    • Design and conduct standard engineering tests and experiments to validate product performance and quality.


  • Tooling & Fixtures Development:

    • Design, source, and fabricate necessary tooling and fixtures to support new product initiatives.


  • Troubleshooting Expertise:

    • Address and resolve issues in design, materials, or processes that affect new product introduction.


  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    • Compile, analyze, and summarize test results; use findings to establish product and process standards.
    • Prepare concise technical reports and documentation to share results with key stakeholders.


  • Documentation & Concept Development:

    • Responsible for thorough and up-to-date engineering documentation throughout each project phase.
    • Invent and submit concepts for new product/process development and participate in the idea disclosure process.


  • Team Leadership:

    • Provide guidance and training to technicians as necessary, supporting skill and knowledge development across the team.


  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration:

    • Work in cooperation with process development, quality assurance, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure project objectives are met.


  • Systems Knowledge:

    • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Product Development Process (PDP) and Technical Product Development (TPD) systems, delivering consistently high-quality project deliverables.





Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3-4 years of engineering experience in medical device development, product design, or manufacturing support.
  • Experienced in CAD modeling, FEA simulations, and prototyping medical devices.
