Job Purpose

Corporate Affairs is at the forefront of managing critical relationships with key stakeholders, including engagement with policymakers, community leaders, and non-profits collaborators. It is responsible for implementing
government relations strategies and leading corporate communications to increase internal awareness of Honda's
business direction and enhance Honda's reputation.

This role is responsible for overseeing local community relations activity surrounding our Southern region operations, which includes Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The Community Relations Specialist will play a pivotal role focused on Honda's external presence in these local communities. Key functions include relationship management with community stakeholders and officials, representing Honda at events, evaluating community branding opportunities and keeping company leaders informed on local matters. This role will serve as a key conduit that bridges Honda to local communities, in alignment with Regional Corporate Affairs' overall strategies and priorities.

Key Accountabilities

External community relations activit

  • Build strong, trusting relationships and understanding of community needs with key external community stakeholders across the designated region.
  • Stakeholders include non-profit organizations, local governments, businesses, and industry partners.
  • Represent Honda externally at local community events and meetings with key external stakeholders.
  • Monitor, respond and report on local economic and community developments and issues.
  • Collaborate with Engagement, Charitable Giving, State and Federal.
  • Government & Industry Relations on relevant topics, relationships, and policies.
  • Review, evaluate and activate local marketing or branding opportunities.
  • Support local Corporate Affairs engagement event staffing, as needed.
  • Provide site tours to stakeholders

Internal community relations support and reporting

  • Build strong relationships with site leads and key internal stakeholders to share information on community activities, make connections to the community, and serve as point person for community concerns, opportunities and sensing.
  • Coordinate and support local board relationships and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders on placements.
  • Support leader speechwriting, as needed.
  • Monitor, PDCA, and report on local community activity, communicate action plans with leadership, and support Unit business plan and budget activities.
  • Ensure local activity integration with broader Regional Corporate Affairs and Honda priorities and strategies.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • 4-7 years of experience in Corporate Affairs, Community Relations, Government Relations, external community organizations or similarly relevant work
  • Ability to represent Honda in a professional manner
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of community and government organization operations
  • OEM or other auto industry experience
Working Conditions
  • Schedule: Full-time; occasional evenings, weekends and holidays; Hybrid.
  • Location: Must be within commutable distance to Honda facility within specified region.
  • This is a salaried position.
    Local travel and external meetings or events expected 2-3 days per week
  • Ability to have presence and attend meetings/events across Southern Region, in collaboration with Regiona
  • Corporate Affairs team members on coverage.
