The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, their caregivers and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed healthcare decisions. Position Summary

Our Comparative Clinical Effectiveness Research (CER), Systems intern will assist with the preparation of a literature review and identify themes from an engagement convening on maternal health.

The CER intern will have the opportunity to:

  • Review research plans, progress reports, and other narrative information from PCORI Research Awards.
  • Identify and catalogue literature on research related to maternal morbidity and mortality to identify evidence gaps and areas for future research.
  • Synthesize a review of one evidence gap in maternal health research.
  • Review, identify themes, and summarize a breakout session from an engagement convening on maternal health.

Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits.

  • Bachelor's hourly pay: $17.50
  • Master's and above hourly pay: $20.00

Required Experience

Ideal candidates will be pursuing their postgraduate education in Public Health, Biomedical Sciences, Epidemiology, or related fields of study.

  • Experience in qualitative data analysis, synthesizing data/information from various sources, and identifying themes.
  • Superior problem-solving skills. Must possess intellectual curiosity and be able to gather, assess, and synthesize information from a variety of resources.
  • Excellent administrative skills, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
  • Write and condense information for various audiences.
  • Ability to categorize information and identify themes to generate a synthesis of complex information.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and interest in healthcare research and health policy, especially maternal health, preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
