THE ROLE The role is responsible for the support of the preparation and ongoing post-effective amendment updates and supplementary filings of the mutual fund registration statements on behalf of the U.S. registered investment company supervised by MFS. The Regulatory Analyst assists with the duties associated with the preparation and transmission of various regulatory filings for MFS, its funds, and its subsidiaries with the Securities & Exchange Commission in compliance with the '33 and '40 Act Rules. This position is also responsible for coordinating certain group resources as well as assisting in specialized projects, supporting any new processes and procedures relating to the impact of regulatory changes on funds or client accounts, and assisting in drafting changes to applicable documentation, procedures, and filings as needed. WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission or other regulatory agencies/authorities, effectively utilizing job-specific technology coordinating the filings. Ensure filings and other documentation are prepared in a timely and complete manner in accordance with departmental procedures, regulatory requirements and timeframes. Coordinate with internal divisions within MFS and external business partners/vendors to finalize disclosure.
- Maintain reference files and communications regarding documentation and filings.
- Participate in specialized projects that involve multiple concerns throughout MFS, its funds and its subsidiaries
- Keep abreast of rules and regulations affecting fund matters as well as other investment management and regulatory issues.
- Develop suggestions for procedures to enhance the quality and flow of work.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Distribute, track, and archive filing related projects.
- Maintain and update filing related or other schedules, providing routine updates to various business partners and departments within MFS that require this information.
- Maintain certain departmental resources, including calendars, checklists, guidelines, etc.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience. 0-2+ years of experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to develop functional proficiency using various MFS proprietary systems required to perform the duties of this position. Must be able to conduct research and to utilize applicable tools.
- Thorough, detail-oriented, persistent, self-motivated, and able to function with a high degree of independence and accuracy on multiple projects concurrently, while adhering to departmental and corporate policies and procedures and stringent deadlines.
- Solid communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have availability for overtime as necessary to keep current with work.
- Three years of investment management, financial services, industry-related legal/compliance, and/or paralegal experience is preferred.
- Experience working with SEC filing software tool and/or a prospectus document management system.
- An aptitude for analytical work and an interest in that work is necessary.
