Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Airway Facilities (AF) Specialist. The Airway Facilities (AF) Specialist provides technical and operational expertise in the maintenance and operation of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, subsystems, and equipment. This role ensures the integrity, availability, and performance of critical air traffic infrastructure, supporting both routine and emergency operations. The specialist may also support equivalent military or industrial systems, applying practical experience to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize system functionality within a complex operational environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • 1-20 years of relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of NAS systems or equivalent military/industrial facilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems, subsystems, or equipment within the NAS or comparable infrastructure

  • No college degree required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience supporting FAA Airway Facilities systems or equivalent DoD aviation support systems

  • Certifications or training in electronics, telecommunications, or systems engineering (e.g., FCC license, CompTIA Network+, or similar)

  • Familiarity with NAS infrastructure such as navigational aids (NAVAIDs), radar systems, communications systems, or environmental support systems

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot NAS facilities and associated systems or equipment

  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure systems remain operational and compliant with safety and performance standards

  • Support fault isolation and restoration of service for malfunctioning systems or components

  • Document maintenance activities, system performance, and equipment conditions accurately

  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and safety personnel to support modifications, upgrades, and implementations

  • Respond to system outages and emergency situations to restore service and minimize operational disruption

  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA, military, or industry safety and technical standards
