Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance is responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with all MSU Denver, NCAA, and RMAC rules and regulations. This position will provide leadership and oversight of a comprehensive Division II compliance program in all matters pertaining to the monitoring, interpreting, educating, documenting and investigating of all institutional, NCAA and conference rules and regulations; submit required NCAA and RMAC reports; and serves as liaison to the NCAA and RMAC on all compliance rules interpretations. This position will also serve on the senior leadership team and will participate in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish appropriate departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all NCAA, RMAC and university rules and regulations.

  • Provide rules education to both internal and external constituents to ensure a culture compliance and institutional control at MSU Denver.

  • Arrange and conduct preseason NCAA certification meetings to coordinate completion of compliance forms.

  • Assist in the monitoring of progress-towards-degree and other NCAA, conference and university academic eligibility requirements.

  • Foster strong collaborations with the offices of Financial Aid, Registrar and Admissions to ensure accurate certification of initial and continuing student-athlete eligibility as well as the processing of student-athlete grant-in-aid agreements.

  • Assist in the review and development of appropriate internal operating policies and procedures to enhance overall departmental efficiency, and the oversight and processing of scholarship budget.

  • Complete all required conference and NCAA compliance reports (i.e. NCAA Academic Tracking and Graduation Rate reports).

  • Serve as liaison with NCAA Eligibility Center.

  • File waivers and process release (e.g. hardship, two-year college transfer).

  • Monitor playing and practice season limitations for intercollegiate sports.

  • Monitor receipt of recruiting logs for intercollegiate sports.

  • Prepare eligibility lists for all intercollegiate sports.

  • Serve as departmental representative on the Athletic Advisory Committee.

  • Assist with game day operations, event coverage, and team travel as assigned.

  • Coordination of contracts for athletics schedules.

  • Provide oversight and coordination for the 5th year student-athlete program.

  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Experience with web-based services such as Teamworks, workday and other compliance software.

  • Must possess organizational skills along with the ability to work under deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or other terminal degree

  • Experience working in intercollegiate athletics compliance, which includes experience implementing/leading an NCAA athletics compliance program.

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.

The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $55,000 - $67,000.

This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
