Job Description:

Satair is looking for a Customs Specialist to join our team based in Herndon, VA.

You will be part of the team to help manage Customs regulations at both national and international level and ensures customs optimization.

Your challenges:

Identify and mitigate both compliance and financial risks related to import/export transaction:

  • Administer customs processes and compliance controls.

  • Work with Satair's customs brokers and/or subcontractors to prepare and ensure timely and compliant customs activities.

  • Audit customs declarations for accuracy and compliance with import & export regulations. Review and ensure inbound shipment documentation prepared by suppliers/vendors are in compliance with Airbus, Satair and U.S. Customs requirements. (e.g. Valuation, Country of Origin, etc.)

  • Prepare and provide entry instructions to brokers and/or subcontractors.

  • Prepare and submit amendment or post-summary correction instructions to brokers and/or subcontractors.

  • Prepare and submit Reconciliation entries.

Classify commodities according to the HTSUS:

  • Maintain and update classification justification and Partner Government Agency documentation

Support the Customs Manager in the development and implementation of company initiatives and projects:

  • Act as operational focal point and provide ad-hoc advice to cross-functional peers.

  • Assist with various customs-related project implementations

Education:

  • Required - High School diploma or GED

  • Preferred - Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Finance, or Accounting

Experience:

  • Required - 3+ years' experience in U.S. import compliance, import operations or combination thereof

  • Preferred - 2+ years' experience in tariff classification

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Preferred - Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)

  • Preferred - U.S. Customs Broker License

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Ability to research and comprehend aircraft engineering and maintenance data (e.g. drawings, maintenance documentation, aerospace & material standards, etc.)

Physical Requirements:

  • Onsite or remote: On-site

  • Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.

  • Hearing: able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.

  • Speaking: able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.

  • Equipment Operation: able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment.

  • Carrying: able to occasionally carry up to 10lbs/5kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects.

  • Lifting: able to occasionally lift up to 10lbs/5kg.

  • Pushing/Pulling: able to push/pull items in office areas.

  • Sitting: able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.

  • Squatting/Kneeling: able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.

  • Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time.

  • Travel: able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time. Working outside hangers in changing locations.

  • Walking: able to walk through office and production areas, around flightline and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.

Citizenship:

  • Must be able to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
