Job Description

Pay Range $75,150 to $93,950 per year.

TheSr. Material Planner willlead the Direct Materials Planning team consisting of three direct reports: Material Planner and Material Planning Assistants in the supply of ingredients and packaging to meet daily production requirements across 14 Foster Farm production facilities, encompassing some $300 million worth of materials. Will influence appropriate decision making and judgement to achieve on time delivery within parameters and expediting with suppliers and between facilities as required. Will have a dotted line to provide direction and support for field material planners. Will focus on optimal cost and service by driving an effective planning process, assurance of supply for Foster Farms production at cost as set by DM Sourcing. The role requires the management and development of Direct Materials Planners and Planning Assistants along with resolution of elevated issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement to reduce our inventory carry costs, both internal and external by bringing disciplined process to our ordering procedures.
  • Lead three direct material planners and thoroughly understand and have ownership of the entire direct materials planning process. This will include the understanding of Supply Chain from supplier to customer.
  • Determine the need for meetings and leads or participates in internal and external meetings including with Product Management to drive improvements.
  • Work to get clarification of uncertainty in the process, developing approaches to unprecedented or unplanned situations and influencing stakeholders at both the supplier and within Foster Farms to meet supply assurance.
  • Analyze MRP data and manage PO requisitions and purchase orders to support the manufacturing plan. Must be comfortable with critical thinking, daily decision making and judgement calls and lead the team in successfully completing in excess of 10,000 line orders per year.
  • Navigate any complex challenges that come up in the material planning process.
  • Engage associates and develops talent.
  • Train and mentor all material planners and material planning assistants.
  • Deliver consistent results and have the ability to learn and work within current planning structure having the ability to develop process improvements as needed.
  • Reporting - including run and evaluation of forecast to suppliers, VMI or min/max program management, transition trackers, slow moving report, elimination of obsolete codes and materials.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years ofsupply chain/planning experince in manufacturing for a multi-plant consumer packaged goods company.
  • Experience managing teams with direct reports preferred.
  • Proficient in SAP and MRP and applicable modules within these systems.
  • Experience in developing and implementing supply chain planning processes and managing them through SAP.
  • Demonstrated expertise in material planning team and function management, problem solving and communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence areas not under direct control to achieve objectives and effectively communicate.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and build strong relationships by being transparent, reliable, and delivering on commitments.
  • Ability to provide innovative ideas to optimize material planning and generate new ideas or alternatives that create value.
  • Advanced numerical, analytical, and critical thinking skills with the ability to blend and filter inputs from multiple sources to key on the most important influences which will impact both future demand and supply.
  • Advanced understanding of stakeholder and consumer dynamics that impact demand.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills and have the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management.
