UMKC Math Academy SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI - KANSAS CITY UMKC is in the heart of Kansas City, a world-class computing, engineering and science hub home to companies such as Cerner, Ericsson, IBM, SS&C, Garmin, and Honeywell. The School of Science and Engineering supports many programs in the STEM fields such as computer science, engineering, biology, mathematics and statistics, etc. including the most recent added program of Architecture. The UMKC Math Academy's mission is to support students in grades 7-12 to raise their math proficiency so that they can pursue STEM careers after leaving high school. Job Description
The UMKC Math Academy is searching for three highly qualified full-time math instructors (2025-26 school year) to be a part of movement to increase math proficiency across the Kansas City area. This is a full-time, benefit eligible, non-ranked instructor position in the UMKC Math Academy which is part of the UMKC School of Science and Engineering. The UMKC Math Academy's mission is to work with local area school districts supporting underserved communities to raise student math competency so students can be successful in pursuing STEM oriented careers. The teacher role in the UMKC Math Academy is truly unique as teachers are allowed to teach the classes and content without the constraints of district responsibilities. No more Advisory/Homeroom classes, major behavior issues, supervision, state testing, hall duty, lunch duty, committee meetings, principal evaluations or district professional development. Math Academy teachers focus on students and their knowledge of the content. The Academy's goal is to foster excitement in the STEM areas by increasing math proficiency.
