Department Summary

The Department of Internal Medicine & Geriatrics at the University of North Texas Health - Fort Worth is committed to advancing the field of geriatrics through interdisciplinary education, innovative care models, and community engagement. The department oversees interprofessional learning experiences designed to prepare students to meet the needs of older adults across diverse care settings.

Position Overview

The Educational Program Assistant Director will implement and maintain programs, courses, training, and activities for student, faculty, and other trainees. This function focuses on the planning, development, facilitation, implementation, evaluation and administration of a wide variety of educational programs and initiatives to increase and enhance continues educational learning. Also, entails developing and implementing organizational and employee development strategies and interventions which may include developing courses, developing broad range programs to meet the needs of a diverse population, managing training and organizational development programs, contracting services and developing budgets. This individual will collaborate with program leads and faculty to ensure that the course aligns with institutional learning objectives, accreditation standards, and best practices in medical education.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of IPEC competencies for Interprofessional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of Health professions curriculum.
  • Knowledge of IPE assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Strong ability to collaborate and foster collaboration across healthcare professions.
  • Ability to work with students, faculty, and clinicians.
  • Excellent presentation skills both visual and verbal.
  • Proficient in design thinking and curriculum development.
  • Proficiency in MS Suite, Learning Management Systems, Qualtrics or other survey instruments


Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in Education, health sciences or related field. Doctorate highly preferred.
Experience in curriculum design, instructional management, or health professions education.

Job Duties:



  • Implements academic and educational programs, courses, and activities.
  • Develops procedures and practices for others to follow in programs.
  • Provides support to faculty in the implementation of routine program logistics, participation in team activities, use of electronic communications and technology, preparation of reports and program documentation.
  • Responsible for assessment data and metrics development and reporting, of programs evaluation and continuous assessment.
  • Follows standard principles and systems and uses appropriate terminology associated with a particular field of specialization.
  • Leads and contributes to curricular innovation, assessment redesign, and integration of clinical relevance in course materials.
  • Clearly communicates information, ideas, or instructions verbally and in writing; manage course delivery across multiple sections and learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary program faculty leads, student affairs and academic leadership to engage students and address and mediate student-related concerns, including professionalism and behavioral issues.
  • Coordinate and manage the delivery of course content across multiple sections and learning platforms.
