Job Description:

The Assistant Manager Tech Ops Supply Chain Management (SCM) invests in the future of Southwest's People by leading a Team of Project Managers supporting key initiatives across our Aircraft Maintenance supply chain by providing task execution support, project management guidance, and career development. This role blends hands-on leadership with technical expertise - implementing agile frameworks, managing system deployments, and driving supply chain improvements through data and process optimization. This role works collaboratively with Teams in Tech Ops and throughout the Company to support Tech Ops material planning and tooling. TheAssistant Manager Tech Ops SCM is excited to drive actionable outcomes by transforming database insights, optimizing material planning systems, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve measurable results to drive the future of Southwest.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead the day-to-day work for a team of Professional Employees who utilize various technical systems to plan and execute supply chain operations in support of maintaining a 14 CFR Part 121 Carrier's fleet
  • Communicate and promote operational goals and strategic initiatives across the Department, fostering collaboration and change adoption
  • Cultivate Employee development, growth, training, or relevant skillsets while also conducting performance evaluations
  • Develop presentations, reports, and status updates for Department Stakeholders incorporating technical aspects and impact analysis for intradepartmental Stakeholders and Senior Leaders
  • Provide subject matter expertise for all complex operational, financial and contractual supply chain issues as well as being the primary point contact for escalation and budget management
  • Directly monitor the planning and execution of a team of individuals by balancing workloads and making adjustments as needed to maximize efficiency within the operation.
  • Partners with Risk and Compliance Team to support internal and external conformance to key Sarbanes Oxley controls
  • Support the development of project plans, prioritization and successful execution of strategic initiatives
  • Identify potential improvement opportunities through data analysis with focus on technical or strategic advancements
  • Identify initiatives and propose potential solutions to lower total cost of ownership for Southwest

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge in supply chain management/lifecycle and aviation, aerospace, logistics, or similar industries
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Ability to use business systems and available information to effectively oversee, prioritize strategic initiatives, drive daily operations, delegate responsibility, and promote a positive work environment for Team Members, while also demonstrating proficiency in learning and adapting to various technology systems commonly used in supply chain management
  • Ability to manage partnerships and resolve complex issues with cross-departmental stakeholders utilizing change management principles while adhering to FAA/Regulatory, Financial, and Quality Compliance standards.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communication with the ability to articulate views concisely and convincingly to Employees and Leaders
  • Skilled in assessing performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements by motivating, developing, and directing People as they work, identifying the best people for the job and taking corrective action as needed
  • Skilled in supporting, developing, and training the development of project charters and the timely execution of all deliverables
  • Ability to successfully lead a Team through changing business environments, processes, and tools within the aviation and airline industry
  • Strong risk management and decision-making abilities, with a focus on anticipating and addressing change-related risks, while evaluating strengths and weakness of alternative solutions or approaches
  • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information through problem solving and data analysis to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions while considering change implications
  • Knowledgeable in change management methodologies, including assessing impact, developing plans to implement change, and influencing adoption
  • Ability to read and comprehend various technical documentation such as: Complex engineering documents, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, Component Maintenance Manuals, and Illustrated Parts Catalogs
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
    • Indirect People Leadership or peer mentoring with focus on leading a Team or project through process changes, change management and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Experience in the aviation/airline industry or similar sectors
    • System administration with various technologies (e.g. SAP ERP/VIM, Maintenix, Aeroxchange, QuickBase database management, Alteryx, Tableau, Salesforce, Workiva, Service Parts Mgmt)
    • Preferred: Advanced understanding of database fundamentals and data structures, including the ability to interpret data models and leverage database queries to extract, transform, and analyze data to support operational decisions
    • Preferred: Experience with supply planning tools and inventory optimization platforms, including familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Demand Planning, and Inventory Management systems
    • Preferred: Backgroundin supply chain system implementation and integration, with experience in managing cross-functional system deployment projects and understanding system data flows and dependencies
    • Preferred: Experience developing and delivering training materials or workshops to support system adoption and change management initiatives

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $110,900 per year to $123,200 peryear* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individualcontributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at thediscretion of the Company.
