The Department of Classification and Compensation coordinates the university's staff job classification process. We help establish new staff positions and reclassify existing ones. We also assist with compensation ranges and strategic job design.

The department of Classification and Compensation at Georgia State University seeks to hire an experienced Classification & Compensation Specialist to join our team.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position will process classification and compensation requests related to reclassifications and/or pay changes on a first in/first out basis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:



  • Conducts analysis of internal and market equity.
  • Assists with classifying new and existing staff positions; discusses recommendations with managers and supervisors.
  • Assists with the revisions and/or development of job specifications for new and existing positions.
  • Updates internal class and comp documentation accordingly.
  • Assists with conducting workshops and training sessions on classification and compensation systems, policies and procedures.
  • Assist with monitoring the Class and Comp email box to address inquiries and provide general assistance.
  • May assist the team with conducting desk audits, internal offers and comprehensive classification reviews for given unit or department.
  • Assists in the development of classification and compensation policies, procedures, and manuals (internal and external).
  • Assist with special projects; performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and one year of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience working in a University or public sector.
  • Knowledge of classification and compensation terms and definitions.
  • Working knowledge of various systems, including Microsoft 365, ADP, and PeopleSoft.
