The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Research Information for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $78,000- $97,000- $116,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Senior Specialist, Research Information is responsible for the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of information research services, projects and products that meet member and customer needs and support the American Hospital Association (AHA) vision, mission, and objectives. Provide information and access to information for AHA members, partners, staff, and others, using diverse resources.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Apply high-level, complex, specialized data and information retrieval skills to analyze and respond to member, staff and nonmember needs for information on diverse topics of varying complexity.
  • Draw on in-depth knowledge of the AHA and health care field, and of print, electronic, and organizational resources to identify, analyze, synthesize, and communicate data and information.
  • Lead in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating AHA Resource Center (RC) activities, service lines, and products. These may include: research, data products, document delivery, current awareness, copyright, RC collections, archives and online catalog.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Internet, Intranet, and other electronic information initiatives, including content and taxonomy for aha.org.
  • Train and supervise RC personnel in areas of core responsibility, ensuring staff acquire and demonstrate requisite service, knowledge, and technical skills. Implement quality and service improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Apply high-level communication and presentation skills to develop appropriate communications with internal and external audiences, using innovative print, verbal, visual, and electronic techniques for marketing and promotion activities and user training.
  • Work independently and as a team member to contribute to other activities, projects, or initiatives as needed to support programs, products and fiscal objectives of AHA, Data Strategy and the RC.
  • Stay current on key organizational goals, strategies and operational processes. Participate in internal training/education activities and external training/education opportunities.
  • Lead or serve on teams and engage in collaborative activities; represent the Resource Center and AHA to internal and external audiences and interact with persons at all levels.

Education
Masters of LIBRARY SCIENCES (required)
Experience
Advanced knowledge of the health care field and key/core health care information resources. (required)
5 years: Experience in a research role within a library, information services or research services organization. (required)
